June 6 – 12, 2027
Some teachers show you how to move. Others remind you what the practice is really for.
Troy Hadeed is the kind of yoga teacher many of us have been missing. His teaching is deeply rooted in tradition, but never rigid. His wisdom comes from a life genuinely devoted to practice, not simply from knowing what to say once he is at the front of the room. There is depth, but no performance. Conviction, but no ego. And an approachability that allows you to meet the practice exactly where you are. I’ll be completely honest: there are very few male yoga teachers whose work I feel deeply drawn to. Troy is one of them.
Not because he takes up more space but because he doesn’t need to. He teaches with the quiet confidence of someone who practices what he shares. Someone who understands that yoga is not about performing a posture or proving how much you know. It is about how honestly you are willing to meet yourself.
Some teachers show you how to move. Others remind you what the practice is really for. Some seasons ask us to keep moving forward. Others invite us to look a little deeper.
To notice what has become automatic. What we have been carrying. What has been getting louder beneath the noise. What if the next thing you need isn’t another answer but enough quiet to hear yourself clearly?
For six nights, Troy invites us into that exploration.
Through movement, philosophy, self-inquiry, nature and honest conversation. Beneath the Surface offers an opportunity to move beyond the external shape of yoga and into the deeper practice beneath it. This is not yoga as performance. It is not about perfecting a pose, escaping your life or becoming someone new. It is an invitation to pay closer attention to the life you are already living.
June brings a different rhythm to Cambutal. The first rains return. The hills deepen into green. The coastline becomes quieter, and the days begin to ask a little less of us. There is time to practice without rushing away afterward. Time for nourishing meals, ocean, rest and conversation. Time to let what begins on the mat continue into the rest of the day. Troy’s teaching will move beyond the yoga space. Into nature. Into community. Into quiet. Into the moments when there is nothing to prove and nowhere else you need to be.
Troy Hadeed has been teaching yoga for more than twenty years, but his work has never really been about the poses.
For Troy, yoga, meditation, breathwork and ceremony are tools. Powerful ones, yes, but still tools in service of something deeper. The ability to live with more love, more honesty and more presence.
His teaching is slow and intentional. The transitions matter as much as the postures. The breath becomes part of the meditation. And the real measure of the practice is not how you move on the mat, but how you show up once you leave it.
This week is not designed to give you every answer. It is designed to help you hear the questions that matter. If you have been missing a practice with depth or a teacher whose wisdom feels genuinely lived, we would love to welcome you.
The ocean never hurries, yet everything unfolds in perfect time.
The question isn’t whether you need space, rest, or renewal. It’s when you’ll choose it for yourself.
