Sansara is located in the peaceful surf town of Cambutal, about 5.5 to 6.5 hours by road from Tocumen International Airport (PTY) in Panama City. For guests who prefer to shorten the journey, you can take a short local charter flight to the towns of Pedasí or Chitré, followed by a scenic two-hour drive to the resort.
We work with a trusted, reliable transportation company to provide private transfers directly from Panama City or the airport to Sansara. (For retreat groups share shuttles to/from Panama City and Sansara are included in your package). Vehicles are air-conditioned, comfortable, and drive by trusted local drivers who know the route well. For guests arriving via Pedasí or Chitré, we can also arrange a connecting transfer to the resort.
The journey to Cambutal takes you through Panama’s vibrant countryside, charming villages, and rolling green hills. The road is paved and in good condition for nearly the entire way, with the final stretch winding along the coastline. Many guests describe the drive as a beautiful transition from the bustle of the city to the peaceful pace of Sansara.
Cambutal is a small laid-back beach community with just a handful of smalls shops. While you can find basic snacks and essentials, there are no ATMs in Cambutal. We recommend stopping at an ATM in Panama City or in the larger town of Tonosí (about 25 minutes away) before arriving.
Yes – guests are welcome to rent a car for the flexibility to explore on their own. We offer complimentary on-site parking for all guests. The drive is straightforward, and directions will be provided upon booking. If you’re arriving for a retreat, we suggest confirming with the facilitator before renting a car, as most group packages include transfers.
Yes. For independent travelers or those visiting in non-retreat groups, we’re happy to arrange shared or private pick-ups from the airport or other locations, as well as coordinate with others arriving around the same time.
For retreat participants, group transfers are included in your package and operate from a selection of fixed locations and times provided by your retreat facilitator. If your travel plans fall outside of these set transfers, we can help arrange a private transfer to meet up with the group or bring you directly to Sansara. Our goal is to make your arrival as smooth and stress-free as possible.
