Sustainably Built & Operated
Sansara uses conscious judgement when it comes to sustainability practices. Sustainability is not what we do - it is who we are.
When building the resort, Sansara utilized architectural strategies that incorporate local culture to influence the design. Sansara did not cut down any large trees, utilizing the existing ones as design elements in the process. Building supplies are always local, sustainable and include certified wood, recycled and rapidly renewable materials as well as natural fabrics in the rooms and flooring for the yoga shala and pool area. Our pool is a chemical free saltwater system and only water-efficient equipment and fixtures are incorporated throughout the properties. We have two onsite wells where we draw our water from, nourishing not only our guests, but all of our plants and wildlife around.
A focus on building systems and energy-efficient equipment that doesn’t harm the ozone is paramount. When possible we use utilize non-toxic essential oils for cleaning supplies, and all lighting on property is LED & energy efficient. Alongside this, we employ 24 hour staff to turn the lights and power supplies down when not in use.
Engaging guests in location-specific experiences that celebrate the local culture is another value of our brand. Whether it be learning about turtle nesting or participating in a Panamanian cooking class - working alongside the local community to support and educate is of our utmost importance.
One of the best ways to help with our sustainability is to create mindful employment. Sansara is committed to employing locally, with a large percentage of staff coming from the local town of Cambutal. Another way to create jobs is to purchase items locally and inject money into the local economy.
