Deby Curcio, E-RYT 500 hr:
During a healing crisis, Deby was introduced to Yoga. A nurturer at heart, Deby decided that she needed to share what great things Yoga had done for her so she did her first of many Yoga Teacher trainings in 2005. Deby has practiced Yoga for nearly 20 years and been teaching for almost 15 years. She is certified in Hatha, The Barkan Method of Hot Yoga, Mark Stephens Vinyasa, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Sculpt, Barre and The Yoga Wall. Deby is an E-RYT 500 HR teacher as well as YACEP Certified (Yoga Alliance Certified Continuing Education Provider) and the studio is a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance. As a studio owner she has hosted a Teacher Training program, Continuing Education Workshops and yearly retreats. She will always continue to further her education and knowledge of the human body to be able to teach safe and effective classes. She likes to incorporate sound healing with the use of singing bowls, frequencies tools and bells – this is especially effective in Restorative Yoga classes. She loves teaching meditation, mudra and mantra techniques as it only enhances the physical part of Yoga.
Through the years and exploration of so many forms of Yoga she has found that she weaves what is best for her; body, mind and soul, from various teachers, trainings, philosophies and styles. She will always intuitively share with her students what she feels they will get the most benefit from in her classes. Expect to have fun, be nurtured, loved, and encompassed with her knowledge and passion for all aspects of Yoga while on this retreat!
Jim Curcio, E-RYT 200:
Jim has been athletic his entire life. Growing up near the Jersey shore, he enjoyed swimming, surfing, skim boarding and water skiing. His teen years were spent skateboarding, snow skiing, and competing in basketball and tennis. After college Jim remained active in sports and added golf, cycling, and running to his many activities. At the persistence of his wife Deby, Jim was introduced to Yoga in the mid 90’s. The first class he attended was very flowery and did not resonate with him. It wasn’t until he was introduced to Hot Yoga, that he felt the connection was right for him. He could get an entire body work out , while gaining flexibility and balance! Yoga was allowing him to enjoy all his sports injury free and with as much zealous as his younger years. Moving to Colorado in 2004, Jim took to the mountains, teaching skiing , trail running and mountain biking. After years of a steady Yoga practice, Jim attended the Barkan Method Hot Yoga teacher training in 2011 and has been teaching ever since. At age 56, Jim qualified for the 1 st wave of the Boston Marathon with a time of 3 hours 9 minutes. He attributes Yoga for his overall health, strength, and ability to stay injury free while staying active.
Jim has a grounding and soothing nature in his teachings. You will get a full body workout but leave his class feeling centered, relaxed, and peaceful. He has been co-leading our annual retreats and enjoys getting to know everyone and spreading his insights to living a more active and balanced life.
