Welcome to the Sansara blog with Loren!

Jul 9, 2019

I came to Sansara as a guest in November of 2017. I knew that Panama was the next Central American country that I would spend some time in, so when MC Yogi and his wife Amanda (also known as the artist 10,000 Buddhas) posted an upcoming retreat, I signed up. With a little help from my friends, I reserved my spot and managed to rope a fellow yogini to come down with me. The stunning resort, the quiet town of Cambutal, and the magical ocean hooked me. It was visceral and I knew I needed to come back.

On my last day of retreat, Mike, the co-founder of Sansara, asked me how I was doing. I felt so cliche as I explained that I really never wanted to leave. He mentioned that the just finished a meeting where he found out he would be needing another massage therapist at the resort. I literally laughed out loud. “You do know I am a massage therapist, right?” I had an interview that afternoon and moved to Cambutal on February 17, 2018.

Of course there’s a big story in those three months, but we can get into that later. The important part is this…Sansara and Cambutal were undeniable to me. And when the universe presented the opportunity to make this place my home, the only answer was a resounding, “YES!” Here we are in July of 2019 and I wouldn’t change a thing. In fact, my place here only becomes more solid, aligned, and true. I have learned more about myself in this past year and 4 months than I can begin explain. I am reminded daily of the limitless potential of this human experience. And I am beyond grateful to share my journey here at Sansara and with you, my beloved readers.

A few more tidbits to get to know me better…I am a coffee lover who is obsessed with filling her home with plants. I love the feeling of the sun on my skin, hence why I packed it all up to move from cold Connecticut to a beach at the end of the road in Panama. I own a surf board but barely surf even though I’m in a love affair with the ocean. I have solo dance parties almost daily and love the feeling of freedom that moving to music provides.

Yoga is my thing…every time I hop on my mat for any aspect of practice, I drop in to my true nature. As it is for so many others, I believe the practice of yoga saved my life, or at least shaped it in such a powerful way that I can’t imagine my world without it. Teaching yoga is something I am made to do, and not from an ego place. When I share the practice of yoga I drop into a deep state of flow. I loose track of time. I speak purely, genuinely, and authentically from my heart. And if you ask me what I said during class, I probably won’t remember. Not because I wasn’t present, but because I offer the practice from a place beyond the thinking mind. It is so engrained, that what you hear in my classes is a raw experience and love for everything that is the lifestyle of yoga and my constant work as a student to embrace all that it is to be human.

I am a recovering perfectionist, just ask anyone who has ever lived with me! I am a work in progress. I am a source of love and light who continues to grow strong from my inevitable dark. I am aware of my anxiety and the ease in which I slip back into overthinking. I tend to put the needs and wants of others ahead of my own, because I love and thrive when I can be a source of help and healing for others. Which is something I am always working to find balance in. That is why I am also a massage therapist. Creating and allowing space for others to set down their day, drop in and receive healing work lights me up. I am a physical person. Movement, massage, sexuality, and creativity are what awaken my experience and heighten my connection to the divine.

My unfinished college major was fine arts with a focus on figure drawing. I still pick up my charcoal once in a while, not nearly enough and that is something I work on tapping back into daily.

I love to cook and to eat. I am a pescatarian, who hasn’t had red meat or pork since she was 11. At that time, I was a competitive rock climber and I started as a vegetarian for performance reasons. And it stuck. I am very health conscious and mostly plant based. I am the co-founder of Meridian, an organic skin and hair care line, alongside my handsome, surfer, ex-pat partner.

I’m now 34 with Sagittarius in my sun, Aries in my moon, and Sagittarius rising. I have no training in astrology, but I am intrigued by it. And as much as I am a sun worshipper, I equally worship the moon in all of her phases. I love animals. I have a hard time with spiders though. Mother Earth is everything to me thanks to the awareness and early education from my mom and dad. I have a super quirky and amazing family whom I love and miss dearly. I consider my friends to be my family. I think my four-year-old niece is my soulmate.

My wish is to live my life so fully and to always listen with my heart so that I can be a source of inspiration for my niece and all little (and big) humans everywhere.

To borrow the words of Elizabeth Gilbert in her Soul Session podcast with Oprah… “I came here to live a life, fully, all of it. And I’ll take it. I’ll take all of it. I’ll take the whole thing. Because I don’t want to miss it. I don’t want to have come all this distance to live a human life and miss the experience…so…I just want to show up for the whole ride. I came here to do this. All of it […] And to figure it out…What am I being asked to do and learn and grow out of this right now? Why is this being offered to me?”

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Don’t worry, not every post will be focused on me. I will share through my life’s experiences and of those around me here at Sansara Surf & Yoga Resort to offer you as much inspiration and motivation as we can. Stayed tuned and subscribe for yoga inspiration, surf stories, travel and adventure, skin care, clean and mostly plant based eating ideas, and anything else we can come up with to support our collective transformation and growth.

Please, always feel free to comment! I’d love to hear your requests for content, feedback and stories.

With gratitude and pure love,
