Here at Sansara Surf and Yoga Resort we adore all things health and wellness, but fear not, we also have a wild side! Apart from yoga and surf, there is nothing we love more than sipping on a delicious cocktail with good friends as the sun goes down.
Lucky for us we have a talented mixologist who creates cocktails that keep us tipsy and toned!
Melissa created 'Beets by Mel' for the health conscious, wild child! This perfectly balanced cocktail is a favourite among the day-time juice lovers and it goes down perfectly with a stunning sunset. Melissa described the cocktail components perfectly when she said; 'Bourbon for depth and ginger for zing.' Cocktails do not have to be a nasty concoction of artificial sugars and flavours. You can make a cocktail sweet and flavoursome by simply utilising the vibrant flavours of veggies and fruits.
The beetroot, ginger and carrot juice carry an array of health benefits that allow you to enjoy this drink completely guilt free! Beets are high in immune boosting vitamin C and contain vital minerals like potassium (which is essential for healthy nerve and muscle function). Ginger is the king of goodness; aiding digestion, preventing muscle aches and fighting against the flu are just a couple of gingers super powers.
And get this, drinking Bourbon in moderation is said to aid weight loss (I know, right!?). So really, you are doing yourself more good by drinking the cocktail, than not.
You will need:
- 2 oz Burbon
- 1 oz Beet and carrot juice
- 0.5 oz ginger puree
- 0.5 oz lemon
- 1 oz honey
Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into a short glass over new ice. Garnish with lime.
